HOLIDAY GREETINGS from TEAM Afton Join us for Christmas Camp and New Year’s Eve-day R

VIEW CAMP FLIER HERE

Greetings Ski Racers!
As the year winds to a close, we wish you the very best for the new year!
We’re excited about our upcoming Team Afton Christmas Camp as we welcome new participants and say welcome back to old acquaintances! We extend a special welcome to our "out-of-towners" and our fellow ARC-Team members participating in the camp this year!
Special treat: All-American alpine competitor and native Coloradan, Mary Rachel Hostetter (M.R. for short) is our featured coach for the entire camp! M.R., who competed at all levels of racing domestically and internationally, brings her coaching expertise and ski racing enthusiasm to help athletes refine successful ski racing skills.
On Saturday, December 27th at 9:30 am, we will formally introduce Mary Rachel in front of the Team Afton USSA “TeamHuis” and you’ll learn more about her ski racing career highlights and what makes M.R. so special.
We will also have several guest coaches and helpers on hand to make this camp a great training experience.
Tuning Clinic: In addition to ski racing skills, we’re giving you a chance to refine ski tuning skills! Expert ski tuning/waxing technician Dr. Dave Thorson is offering TWO tuning clinics on Sunday, December 28th in the Oakwood Room. M.R. will be dropping by both sessions to say a brief hello to parents. The Advanced Tuning Session is 10:00 – 11:30 am, followed by the Novice Tuning Session at 1:30 – 3:00 pm. Dr. Dave’s clinics are always informative and engaging, and you’ll learn how to care for your racer’s skis in between visits to the stone grinder. Cocoa and Holiday treats!
Our schedule for the camp: Saturday - Wednesday, December 27-31, 9am – 3pm.
·         Arrive at 9am (limited seating in the TeamHuis; we encourage you to gear up in the main chalet)
·         Meet on snow in front of TeamHuis, 9:30 am daily.
·         Lunch 11:30 – 12:30 (bring your lunch or remember money to buy lunch in the chalet. Also a good idea to tuck some power bars or granola bars in your jacket for a mid-morning energy boost.)
Special event on December 31st: It's a race! It's a race! And everyone’s invited!
We invite all ARC Team members (whether enrolled in the camp or not), prospective ski racers in general, and their parents to attend a special race we're putting together on December 31st.
Race: Begins at 1pm in front of Team Afton TeamHuis.
What: 4x team race intermixing Team Afton USSA/ARC Team members uniting to achieve team bragging rights and glory!
If you’ve not already registered for Team Afton’s camp, do so today! http://www.teamafton.com/register.php It’s $200 for all 5 days, or $50 per individual days (individual days not sold online). Lift tickets and lunches are not included.

QUICK NOTES!

Register Tonight!!! (That's Wednesday Night - it will always be Wednesday night)

The deadline to register for this weekend’s race at Afton is tonight at 11:59 MST.  After that, there will be a late fee added.  Click Here for instructions on how to register for the races.  Be sure that your athlete has the appropriate USSA Competitors license and that you have registered with Region 1 prior to attempting to register for the race.

If you missed the emails and newsletters that contained instructions on registering with USSA and Region 1, please let me know.  Hint: revisit the newsletter from 10/23/14.

Volunteers Needed

Parents, we need your help at the races, especially races held at our home hill.  There are a lot of jobs that need doing and we need parents to step up.  Many jobs are very simple and require little direction.  Most jobs don’t even require you to ski, so there is no excuse not to volunteer.  If we all wait for someone else to do it, nothing will get done.  Get out there and get involved.

Click Here to go to the job signup page and choose the position you would prefer.  When you registered with Region 1, you should have received a login for this page.  Otherwise, you can always volunteer the morning of the race.  Either way, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

I know we have a lot of new USSA racers this season and this can all seem a little overwhelming.  If you need help with any of the registrations or just need some advice, please let me know.  I’m here to help.

Team Afton Christmas Camp - RSVP

Team Afton Christmas Camp - RSVP

We need to gather some info on who's planning to attend Christmas Camp so we can better plan our staffing needs - and deliver the best camp possible. The full USSA program includes Christmas Camp as part of tuition.
The Associate program does not include Christmas Camp - registration is online at: http://www.teamafton.com/ta_ussa.php.
We will be "capping" camp enrollment this year - so if you have not yet registered, please don't hesitate to do that soon.
