Team Afton Families,
I hope you all have had a chance
to thaw out from this past weekend at Lutsen.
We have a lot going on this week
with practice and preparing for our Super G races this coming weekend.
Please read the following announcements so you are properly prepared.
Tonight’s Practice
Moved
Monday, January 12
We will be holding practice on
chairs 16 and 17 tonight. This will give us some
great terrain for training GS/SG. However, since these are the two
chairs farthest away from our clubhouse, we recommend dropping off / picking up
and booting up in the Highlands Chalet (Golf Course clubhouse). We
will focus mostly on GS and SG tonight, but bring your Slalom gear just in
case.
Practice will move back to our
usual hills for the rest of the week.
Sorry for the late notice.
Super G / Big GS skis +
Slalom
All Week
In preparation for the SG and GS
races at Lutsen this weekend, be sure to bring your SG and GS skis to practice
every night this week. Many of you probably haven’t skied much, if
at all, on your longer GS / SG skis. We need to get you
comfortable with your equipment this week.
IMPORTANT: Be
sure to have a coach (Tony, D.J., etc.) check your bindings this week on ALL
your skis, especially your SG skis.
While we will be emphasizing more
speed (SG / GS) this week, we will have some opportunities for Slalom.
Come prepared for anything. I know this may mean lugging
around extra gear, but it is what we need to do this week.
Special Announcement
Some of you may know the Kuznik
family from Buck Hill through USSA racing. Their oldest, Tony, who
is now in college was just diagnosed with leukemia. They will be
at the Mayo clinic in Rochester for the next month. You can follow
his progress and send an encouraging note through his Caring Bridge
website. Go to Caringbridge.org and type in Tony Kuznik.
Please keep Tony and the rest of
the Kuznik family in your thoughts and prayers.
